Many Americans are ALARMED by the rapid spread of 900 numbers in our
society.  They prey on the innocence of children and exploit the
illiterate.  Shocking stories abound of welfare families receiving
thousand-dollar phone bills.  Cynical celebrities use them to further
enlarge their wealth.  And in one disturbing case, a man named Stephen
Smolenski dialed a 900 number 437 times in one day, under the mistaken
impression that he might win a sweepstakes if he ``just kept trying.''
Don't you think it's time something was done about this?

I've done it.

I have my own 900 number.

Call 1-900-4-JOEBOB.

Call it 437 times if you want to.  I'll feel *real* guilty.
