[osc!strick@ea.ecn.purdue.edu ( really from strick@osc.com ): (RFC822>]

Amusing only if you tend sendmail (sort of like prodding a large
sleeping beast with a 10 foot pole, hoping it won't awaken).

For the past month some stupid mailer has been attempting to be
really clever and re\"attributing my messages so that they
say Really Silly Things like

	To: stupid@AMD.COM
	To: AMC.COM!stupid
	To: stupid@prism.gatech.edu
To: osc!strick@Sun.COM (correct only under some interpetations
)

and equally stupid things on the From: line, prompting people to ask whether
I was now working at AMD or SUN or a student at northwestern or some
other wierd at&t sites -- I have no idea what they are.

So lately I've been putting the real address in the comment field of the
To: and From: lines (when I wasn't putting something really bogus there)
and today I tried putting

	To: stupid ( <-- ignore that ... To: stupid@osc.com )
	From: strick ( <-- ignore that ... From: strick@osc.com )

knowing that the original names would get assigned to some random
host.

Well I botched my RFC822 quiz, or else sendmail did,
because it seems to look for "<" before
it strips out "()" comments, and sends back the following
wonderful error messages. These go on my all time favorites list.
Free membership to "net.unix-wizards.sendmail" if you can explain
the unbalanced treatment of the final To: and From: lines, at
the very bottom of all this.

And forgive me you get two of a couple of things.
