Subject: The Italian proposal for the Iraqi hostages

	BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (UPI) -- Italian Parliament member and
former porn star Ilona Staller has offered to submit to rape by Iraq
President Saddam Hussein in return for the release of Westerners held in
Iraq and Kuwait.
	The offer from Staller, 35, went beyond her statement earlier this
week that she would make love with Saddam to resolve the crisis in the
Middle East.
	``I would let him (Saddam Hussein) rape me in exchange for freedom
for the hostages,'' Staller, 35 -- better known as ``Cicciolina,'' or
``Little Toy,'' from her days as a pornography star -- said at news
conference Tuesday.
	Staller, a parliamentary deputy for the Radical Italian Party, is
on a weeklong visit to Buenos Aires for a series of nightclub and
television appearances.
	Her appearances -- and her exposing of her breasts for photographers
- -- have provoked a morality backlash in Argentina.
	Leon Guinsburg, head of the Federal Committee of Radio and
Television Diffusion, issued a statement published in newspapers
Wednesday accusing the media of sponsoring a ``proliferation'' of scenes
that ``visualized nudity and situations that depart from good taste.''
	The warning appeared to be prompted by a television broadcast of a
news conference in which Cicciolina posed with breasts exposed at the
request of Argentine photographers.
	Movies with nudity and sex scenes are carried daily on Argentine
television, but they are not permitted until after 10 p.m.
	The Christian Alliance of Evangelical Churches of the Argentine
Republic issued a statement Tuesday complaining about ``exhibitionist
attitudes by the Italian deputy'' and criticizing the media for
``playing along.''
